Artist for peace, Laureate for the 2018 Edition of the Public Peace Prize

Distinction awarded for the promotion of peace as fruit of social justice, she has made important contributions to discussions about sustainable and inclusive development for the rural poor, the underprivileged, the physically disabled, and for girls. CONGRATULATIONS!

Nilanjana Sanyal, woman, humanist, passionate and committed to the peace process in Hyderabad, India.

With training in psychology, law, peace studies (Ambassadorship), creative writing and the Liberal Arts, including music and Photography. She has volunteered/worked (flexibly) with different social organizations including the then “Social Services Division” (now, Corporate Sustainability) of TATA STEEL, reporting to the late Dr. Dhruv Dey, Director.

She has often had an arduous life journey marked by a challenge which has also restricted her travel. But she has chosen to brave every adversity with more courage.

Nilanjana Sanyal, has a commitment in Lead India 2020, conceived by the late president, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and has also served on the Advisory Board of Catherine of Siena Virtual College, Ohio, India. As such, she was an ambassador, equipped to share with the public, information and materials with respect to the University’s vision, mission and gender studies courses, for the period 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2012.

She has always professed a true love for the philanthropic pursuit and social work, besides being a seeker of the truth following an ongoing life. In fact, much of her writings pertain to poverty, inequality, sustainable development and peace and nonviolence.  She believes that the progress, prosperity, peace and happiness of nations is in a large part determined by the extent to which we address the welfare, well-being and quality of lives of our women and children and that there is nothing more beautiful than the universal attributes of peace, non-violence, love, compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, a sisterhood and a brotherhood, solidarity and a humanitarianism.
